Mema Mobi Test Phase

1. Introduction:

We are looking for 100 MemaMobi test users, with Android (software version 5.0 or higher) devices, to test our softphone application for 30 days (Apple users will get their chance before the end of November 2018).

Calls between the MemaMobi apps are FREE (get a friend, family member or business partner to join too. This way no minutes are spent and you can really talk for hours using only your existing 3G internet or WiFI connection)

During the test phase, MEMA will collect usage reports, network data and feedback from users to:

1.1. Fix Bugs.

1.2. Add Features:

1.2.1. Easy self-install via QR Code.

1.2.1. Provide member portal to display call usage and charges.

1.2.1. Easy top-up via member portal.


2. Benefit for Test Users:

2.1. Test users will get 100 MEMA connection minutes to call Vodacom, Mtm, CellC, Telkom and Virgin Mobile numbers for the first 30 days. Per second billing applies, which means if you talked for 30 seconds, you only used half a minute of your 100 allocated minutes.

2.2. Test users will get an additional 100 MEMA connection minutes free for the next 30 days - SAVINGS: R 100.00.

2.3. The once-off “Set-up” and “Registration” fee of (R 50.00) is waived - SAVINGS: R 50.00.

2.4. Total cost for 60 days: R 100.00 - Total SAVINGS: R 150.00.

2.5. No commitment after 60 days.


3. How to get the MemaMobi app?

Step 1: Download the Mema_Mobi Application.

Step 2: Send email to admin@mema to indicate your interest and reserve your app (we only have 100 user spots and the 1st come, 1st served principle will apply.

Step 3: Deposit R 100.00 and email us the proof of payment to:  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ,  or fax it to: 086 582 9999

 4. Interconnection Charges:

3.1. Interconnection charges (local calls to Vodacom, MTN, Cell C, Telkom, and Virgin Mobile) apply @ R 0.50 per minute, billed per second.

3.2. With R 100.00 subscription, users get 100.00 minutes valid for 30 days, to cover interconnect rates (unused minutes are carried over).


5. Emergency Calls:

4.1. The MemaMobi application is not intended, designed or fit for placing, carrying or supporting Emergency Calls.

4.2. MEMA Affiliate Marketing (PTY) Ltd will not be liable for any costs or damages arising either directly or indirectly from the use of the software for Emergency Calls.

4.3. Using the MemaMobi Soft-phone as a default dialer may interfere with dialing emergency services.


6. Setting up your App:

IMPORTANT: If you have a previous version of the MemaMobi application installed, make sure to uninstall the previous version before you install the new version! 

Download the Mema_Mobi application.apk file onto your phone:

1. Access Download file

If you are presented with a message that says "Install blocked" like the screen below, click on "Settings" (if you do not get this warning, skip the following 3 steps):

Then click on "Unknown Sources" to allow installation of apps from 3rd party sources other then Play Store

Final step: Click on "OK" to allow only this installation as a once-off installation.

After you clicked "OK" the following screen will appear, alternatively it may skip to the screen directly after this one:

Click on "INSTALL"

The "Installing..." screen will appear: See below

3. Access Download file

If the application installed correctly, you will get screen below.

Click on "OPEN".

If you get an error, see "Troubleshoot" section at bottom of this page.

If you open the MemaMobi App, then you will briefly see this screen below...before landing on...

Once here... click on the "USE SIP ACCOUNT"

5.1 Welcome Screen

...to get to the configuration screen!

Enter the Username, Password and Domain details as supplied by us.

Remember to make sure to tick the UDP tick-box and not TLS

Click on "LOGIN

8.2 Enter credentials

Provided you have internet access, and you entered the credentials correctly, the app will try to register itself by turning grey and briefly display an Orange circle before...

 9. Registering

...displaying the following 3 pages where you are being requested to allow MemaMobi to (1) access your contacts, (2) make and manage phone calls, and (3) allow access to photo's, media and files on your device.

NOTE: If you don't get the following 3 images, close and reopen the application.

Once you confirmed all three...

...will you be redirected to the "DAILER" page with the wording: "Registered".

Well done when you reached this page (see below).

11. Success

ALMOST THERE... 2 more manuel settings you have to adjust:

1st Setting: Select your SIP account and un-tick "AVPF"

2nd Setting: Ensure only the G729 codec is ticked.

You now have 100 minutes to use for 30 days consecutive to make calls to landlines and mobile numbers, only using your existing data connection.

Calls to the MEMA office and other app users does not use any of the allocated minutes, only internet DATA.

Call quality depends on your, and the receivers DATA connection's speed and latency.


7. Troubleshooting:


PROBLEM 1:  You are not able to receive phone calls.

Ensure the following:

1. The Application must run in the background


PROBLEM 2:  After trying to install the app, a user is getting these messages:

  • "X App not installed" or
  • "for security, your phone is set to block installation of apps obtained from unknown sources".

Ensure the following:

1. You have Android version is 5.0 or higher
2. If the app is installed on an SD card, ensure that the SD card is still mounted.
3. Enable the "Allow installation of third party software settings on the phone" during installation. Alternatively, temporarily enable this in phone settings before installing the app from installing

4. As a last resort, start the installation process again and ensure you have follwed all the above instructions to the tee.


PROBLEM 3:  While the App is in "Registered" mode you are trying to make a call, but the call drops and your native (Default) dailer appears, or you get a message; " MEMA MOBI keeps stopping".

Ensure the following:

1. In your phone's settings, go to Apps and permissions.

Please check all permission settings on the phone for MemaMobi is ticked, e.g. Camera, Contacts, Microphone, Phone and Storage, including the "Additional permissions" tab, which is "full access to SIP Accounts..."


PROBLEM 4:  You entered the settings we provided, but the app stays on "No Account Configured".

Ensure the following:

1. The phone needs to be connected to the internet.
2. Double check you entered the account settings we provided you, correctly.
